It’s been a disappointing start for fans of March Madness brackets as many were shattered after the first day of the men’s tournament. Unexpected losses by Kentucky and Mississippi State had a significant impact, leaving less than 1% of brackets intact. The NCAA reported that only 0.00038% of brackets in the men’s tournament remain active. Yahoo and ESPN also saw a large number of broken brackets, with just a handful of perfect ones remaining. Achieving a perfect bracket is extremely difficult, with odds as slim as nine quintillion to one. March Madness is known for its upsets and surprises, making a perfect bracket nearly impossible.
